Suspected Retail Theft Crew Flees Police at 115 MPH — Then Deputies Discover What Was Inside the Van

WISCONSIN — What began with an alert for a Dodge Caravan linked to suspected organized retail theft quickly exploded into a dangerous multi-county police pursuit reaching approximately 115 mph.

The suspects initially appeared to stop for deputies.

Officers ordered the driver to shut off the vehicle and instructed the passengers to come out with their hands raised.

But instead of surrendering, the minivan suddenly accelerated away.

What followed was a desperate chase down Interstate 41, repeated attempts to deploy spike strips, a high-risk takedown and a search that allegedly uncovered drugs, suspicious merchandise and evidence potentially connecting the occupants to theft investigations across multiple states.

And when the cases were finally resolved, the three suspects would receive very different sentences.

PART 1 — Deputies Find the Van, but the Suspects Have Other Plans

At approximately 4:53 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy received an alert concerning a dark-colored Dodge Caravan traveling on Interstate 41.

According to the narration accompanying the footage, the vehicle had been associated with an organized retail theft investigation.

Deputies began coordinating their positions.

They eventually attempted to stop the Dodge near Fleet Farm.

Initially, everything appeared to be working.

The vehicle stopped.

Deputies positioned themselves behind it and began giving the occupants clear commands.

“Driver, shut the vehicle off and throw your hands out the window.”

Officers noticed there were multiple occupants inside.

The front passenger was ordered to open the door and slowly step outside.

But the suspects did not surrender.

Suddenly, the Dodge took off.

Police immediately announced that the vehicle was fleeing.

The video identifies the driver as 36-year-old Jaime Blake, with Jeffrey, 40, and Eric, 41, traveling as passengers.

According to the video’s narration, investigators believed the three were connected to an organized retail theft group that had traveled across the United States.

Now officers had another problem.

They were no longer dealing only with a vehicle connected to a felony investigation.

They were dealing with a driver actively fleeing police.

The Dodge headed back toward Interstate 41.

Speeds quickly increased.

Deputies called out their direction and location while additional agencies were notified.

The pursuit was just beginning.

PART 2 — The Chase Reaches 115 MPH

Once the Dodge reached Interstate 41, the pursuit became increasingly dangerous.

The minivan accelerated into triple-digit speeds.

Officers reported approximately 100 mph.

Then 105.

Then 110.

At one stage of the chase, the speed reportedly reached approximately 115 mph.

The Dodge continued southbound while passing other vehicles in moderate traffic.

Dispatch began notifying Wisconsin State Patrol and surrounding counties.

Law-enforcement agencies farther down the highway started preparing spike strips.

But stopping the Dodge was proving extremely difficult.

The first spike-strip attempts failed.

The vehicle continued at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

One deputy began worrying that his patrol vehicle might run low on fuel.

Another unit prepared to take over as primary.

Officers were also discussing something significant over the radio:

If they could not successfully deploy spike strips, they might terminate the pursuit.

Continuing a chase at more than 100 mph through ordinary traffic presented an enormous risk to everyone on the highway.

Meanwhile, investigators were beginning to uncover more information about the people they were pursuing.

According to the video narration, Jaime and Eric had been involved in an earlier retail theft investigation at a Walmart in St. Augustine, Florida.

The narration states that investigators had accused them of attempting to access locked electronics cases and place thousands of dollars worth of merchandise into containers.

During that earlier investigation, Eric allegedly fled from authorities.

Jaime was reportedly arrested after providing false identification, while investigators determined she had active out-of-state warrants.

Authorities also believed members of the group were connected to other large-scale retail theft cases.

Now, only weeks later, police in Wisconsin were chasing the Dodge down Interstate 41.

Another set of spike strips was positioned ahead.

Again, officers watched closely.

The Dodge appeared to avoid them.

The chase continued.

But farther down the interstate, the suspects’ luck finally began to change.

PART 3 — The Tires Come Apart and Police Move In

After multiple unsuccessful attempts, officers finally noticed signs that the Dodge’s tires had been damaged.

The minivan began losing speed.

An officer reported that he could smell the tires.

The vehicle dropped to approximately 60 mph.

Then approximately 40 mph.

The tires were coming apart.

After racing down Interstate 41 at speeds as high as approximately 115 mph, the Dodge could no longer maintain the chase.

Officers prepared for a high-risk stop.

When the vehicle finally stopped, deputies immediately issued commands from behind cover.

“Keep your hands up!”

“Get on the ground!”

Police did not immediately approach the minivan.

They were dealing with multiple suspects who had just led officers on an extended high-speed pursuit.

They also did not know with certainty whether weapons or additional occupants were inside.

Officers began removing the suspects one at a time.

The driver was instructed to slowly open the door.

She stepped out with her hands raised.

Deputies told her to walk backward toward the sound of their voices.

She was ordered onto her knees and taken into custody.

But police were not finished.

They learned another person was still inside the Dodge.

Officers maintained their positions while continuing to issue commands.

Another passenger eventually emerged.

He too was ordered to keep his hands visible, turn away from officers and walk backward.

One officer became concerned when a suspect appeared to reach toward a pocket.

The suspect responded that he had only been attempting to put away his phone.

Police continued clearing the vehicle.

Eventually, all three suspects were in custody.

During the arrests, officers reportedly located suspected contraband on one of the occupants.

But the biggest discoveries would come when deputies began investigating the contents of the Dodge itself.

PART 4 — The Search Reveals What the Suspects Were Allegedly Hiding

With all three occupants detained, deputies began trying to verify their identities.

That immediately created another problem.

According to the footage, one of the suspects provided the name “Scott Joseph Kimbo.”

But officers could not find a matching record.

A deputy warned him directly:

“If you’re giving me a fake name, let’s just get over with this now. It’s over.”

Police then began examining the Dodge.

According to the video narration, deputies recovered suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia.

They also reportedly found several unopened Google Home and Nest smart devices still inside their original packaging.

A Dyson vacuum was also discovered loose inside the vehicle.

That attracted investigators’ attention because authorities were already attempting to determine whether the occupants were connected to recent retail thefts.

An open bottle of tequila was reportedly found on the front passenger-side floor.

Then deputies made another important discovery.

They found a wallet.

The identification inside reportedly revealed the real identity of a suspect whom officers believed had been providing false information.

Investigators continued working backward through the trio’s recent movements.

According to the narration, police contacted stores connected to recent theft investigations.

One store reportedly identified approximately $3,000 in stolen merchandise, including thermostats, Ring cameras, tools and accessories.

The investigation expanded even further when authorities examined information reportedly found on Jeffrey’s phone.

According to the video, investigators found notes containing store addresses and locations, along with symbols they believed represented stores the group planned to target.

A Pennsylvania police department also reportedly identified Jaime and Eric as suspects in a separate retail theft involving approximately $5,500 worth of merchandise.

The Dodge itself had reportedly been entered into law-enforcement databases during that investigation.

That helped explain why the vehicle had attracted police attention in Wisconsin in the first place.

The Investigation Continues at the Jail

The driver was also questioned about possible alcohol or drug use.

She agreed to standardized field sobriety testing.

She then performed a preliminary breath test.

The result recorded in the transcript was zero.

But the case was still far from over.

Before being taken into the jail, Jaime was warned that jail staff would conduct additional searches and that bringing contraband into the facility could create further consequences.

According to the video narration, additional drugs were subsequently discovered during the booking process.

A deputy also reportedly discovered another baggie in the back seat of a patrol vehicle.

The investigation now included alleged fleeing, reckless driving, suspected drugs, possible stolen property, questions about identity and multiple theft investigations.

What Happened to Jaime?

According to the final case summary presented in the video, Jaime was charged with multiple offenses.

Those reportedly included:

Felony first-degree recklessly endangering safety
Vehicle fleeing/eluding an officer
Drug-related offenses
Possession of THC
Possession of a controlled substance
Receiving stolen property valued above $2,500 as a party to a crime
Possession of drug paraphernalia

Her cash bond was reportedly set at $50,000.

However, being charged with an offense is not the same as ultimately being convicted of it.

The video states that Jaime later entered no-contest pleas and was found guilty of vehicle fleeing/eluding and a possession offense.

The remaining charges were reportedly dismissed.

She was ultimately sentenced to:

One year in state prison followed by two years of extended supervision.

What Happened to Jeffrey?

Jeffrey reportedly faced charges that included felony possession of THC, resisting or obstructing an officer, possession of paraphernalia and receiving stolen property as a party to a crime.

His cash bond was reportedly set at $5,000.

According to the video, he ultimately entered no-contest pleas and was found guilty of possession of THC and resisting.

The remaining charges were dismissed.

His reported sentence was:

Four days in county jail and a $250 fine.

What Happened to Eric?

Eric was reportedly charged with felony retail theft.

His cash bond was also reportedly set at $5,000.

The video states that he eventually entered a no-contest plea and was found guilty of the felony charge.

His reported sentence was:

60 days in county jail.

What started with a law-enforcement alert for a Dodge Caravan had now turned into something much larger.

A multi-county pursuit.

Speeds reaching approximately 115 mph.

Repeated spike-strip attempts.

Three arrests.

Suspected drugs.

Merchandise potentially connected to theft investigations.

Questions about false identities and outstanding warrants.

And ultimately three separate criminal cases with very different outcomes.

LEGAL ANALYSIS — How a Retail Theft Investigation Became a Felony Fleeing Case

This section provides general legal commentary based on the events described in the supplied video transcript. It is intended for educational and news-reporting purposes and does not constitute legal advice.

1. Why Police Could Investigate the Dodge

The case did not begin with an officer randomly selecting a minivan on Interstate 41.

According to the video, the deputy received an automated alert indicating that the Dodge had been connected to suspected criminal activity.

Automated license-plate and vehicle-alert systems are increasingly used by law enforcement to locate vehicles associated with warrants, stolen vehicles and criminal investigations.

But an electronic alert does not automatically make every subsequent police action lawful.

The Fourth Amendment still requires an adequate legal basis for a vehicle stop.

In a case like this, an important question would be what information had been entered into the system and whether that information provided officers with sufficient legal justification to detain the vehicle.

The supplied transcript indicates that police believed the Dodge had been connected to a felony investigation.

2. Why This Was Treated Differently From an Ordinary Traffic Stop

The officers did not simply walk to the driver’s window and ask for a license.

They positioned themselves behind the vehicle and ordered the occupants to keep their hands visible.

This is consistent with officers treating the situation as a potentially high-risk stop.

Police tactics during a felony stop are intended to minimize uncertainty and reduce the possibility that officers will unexpectedly encounter a weapon or attempted escape.

That does not establish that everyone inside the vehicle committed a crime.

It reflects the perceived level of risk based on the information officers possessed at the time.

3. Fleeing Creates an Entirely New Legal Problem

Even if the original police investigation concerned retail theft, intentionally fleeing from officers can create a separate criminal case.

That distinction is crucial.

A suspect might eventually defeat an original accusation in court and still face liability for crimes allegedly committed while trying to escape.

Here, the Dodge initially stopped.

Officers issued clear commands.

The vehicle then allegedly accelerated away and led police on an extended pursuit.

According to the transcript, the pursuit reached approximately 115 mph.

That alleged conduct became legally significant independent of the original theft investigation.

4. Why 115 MPH Matters

Speed is particularly important when prosecutors evaluate allegations involving reckless endangerment.

A vehicle traveling at highway speed already possesses enormous destructive potential.

At more than 100 mph, a sudden collision can be catastrophic.

The transcript describes the Dodge passing traffic while traveling at extremely high speed.

That alleged driving behavior helps explain why the case involved more serious allegations than merely refusing to stop.

5. Why Police Considered Ending the Pursuit

One of the most revealing moments occurs when an officer discusses terminating the pursuit if spike strips cannot stop the Dodge.

That illustrates an important reality of police pursuits.

Capturing a suspect is not the only consideration.

Police also have to consider what continued pursuit may do to innocent members of the public.

A pursuit through traffic at 100 to 115 mph can itself become a serious public-safety threat.

Agencies therefore commonly evaluate factors such as speed, traffic, weather, road conditions, the seriousness of the suspected crime and whether alternative methods of apprehension exist.

6. Why Spike Strips Were Used

Instead of attempting to physically force the Dodge from the highway immediately, multiple officers tried to deploy tire-deflation devices.

The objective is straightforward: damage the tires enough that the fleeing vehicle can no longer maintain its speed.

That appears to be what eventually happened.

After traveling at triple-digit speeds, the Dodge slowed dramatically as its tires deteriorated.

But spike strips are not risk-free.

The officers deploying them may be positioned close to the path of a vehicle traveling at extreme speed.

That makes timing, communication and positioning critically important.

7. Why the Arrest Looked So Aggressive

Once the Dodge stopped, viewers may notice that officers continued pointing weapons and shouting strict commands even though the vehicle was no longer moving.

The context matters.

Police were dealing with multiple occupants who had allegedly just fled at extreme speeds in a vehicle associated with a felony investigation.

They did not know whether weapons were present.

They were also uncertain whether another occupant might be concealed in the vehicle.

Under those circumstances, officers have substantial safety reasons for controlling the occupants’ movements until the vehicle can be cleared.

8. Arrest Does Not Automatically Permit Every Vehicle Search

The search of the Dodge raises a separate Fourth Amendment issue.

Police do not necessarily receive unlimited authority to search an entire vehicle simply because the occupants have been arrested.

Vehicle searches can instead be justified under several different legal doctrines depending on the circumstances.

For example, probable cause that a vehicle contains evidence or contraband can permit certain warrantless vehicle searches.

Other recognized exceptions may also apply, and properly impounded vehicles may sometimes be inventoried under standardized procedures.

The transcript does not provide the full police reports establishing exactly which legal basis authorities relied upon here.

Therefore, the legality of every aspect of the search should not be assumed solely from the video narration.

9. Finding New Merchandise Does Not Automatically Prove Theft

The discovery of unopened electronics or a vacuum inside a vehicle may look suspicious in context.

But possession of brand-new merchandise is not itself proof that the merchandise was stolen.

Investigators still need evidence connecting the property to criminal activity.

That can include surveillance footage, receipts, serial numbers, store inventory records, eyewitnesses and reports from other police agencies.

The video states that investigators subsequently contacted stores and other law-enforcement departments while attempting to establish those connections.

10. Digital Evidence Can Expand a Case Dramatically

The alleged discovery of store locations on a suspect’s phone could potentially become important evidence in an organized retail theft investigation.

But smartphones receive significant constitutional protection.

An arrest does not ordinarily give police unlimited authority to browse through everything stored on a person’s phone.

Investigators generally need appropriate legal authority, frequently a search warrant, to examine digital contents.

The supplied transcript does not explain precisely how police legally obtained the phone information described by the narrator.

That means no assumption should be made about the specific search procedure based on the transcript alone.

11. Why False Identification Can Make Things Worse

Trying to conceal an identity can create legal consequences separate from the original investigation.

It can also make officers suspicious that a person is attempting to hide warrants or prior criminal cases.

In this incident, police eventually located identification that reportedly contradicted information they had previously been given.

Outstanding warrants can provide an independent basis for arrest once officers establish a person’s identity.

But neither a warrant nor a prior criminal record automatically proves that person committed a new offense.

12. Why the Driver Faced the Most Serious Outcome

The reported sentences demonstrate how defendants arrested during the same incident can receive dramatically different outcomes.

The passengers were not necessarily legally responsible for every action taken by the driver.

Likewise, the driver was not automatically responsible for every item allegedly possessed exclusively by a passenger.

Prosecutors must evaluate each person’s conduct and available evidence individually.

Here, Jaime was allegedly operating the Dodge during the high-speed flight.

That placed her in a fundamentally different legal position regarding the fleeing and dangerous-driving allegations.

13. Charges Are Not the Same as Convictions

This case also illustrates why responsible reporting must distinguish between an arrest, a criminal charge and a conviction.

A charge represents an allegation.

Some charges may later be amended or dismissed.

A defendant may plead to only some counts.

That is reportedly what occurred here.

The final outcomes described by the video were narrower than the complete lists of charges originally filed.

14. What a No-Contest Plea Means

The video states that the defendants ultimately resolved certain charges through no-contest pleas.

A no-contest plea generally allows the court to resolve a criminal charge without the defendant proceeding through a contested trial on that count.

It should not be reported as though every allegation originally filed against the defendant was proven at trial.

The relevant final outcome is the offense for which the court entered a judgment.

15. The Biggest Legal Lesson From the Case

The central lesson is that fleeing can transform an investigation.

The encounter began because police were interested in a vehicle reportedly linked to suspected retail theft.

But once the Dodge allegedly fled, the driver’s conduct during the pursuit became a separate focus.

The chase created new evidence.

The arrests created new investigative opportunities.

The vehicle search allegedly produced additional evidence.

Identity checks revealed further information.

Investigators then contacted other jurisdictions and businesses.

By the end, police were no longer investigating only why a Dodge Caravan had triggered an alert.

They were dealing with a multi-state investigation involving alleged organized retail theft, an interstate pursuit, suspected drugs, possible stolen merchandise, false identity information and outstanding warrants.

And according to the reported final dispositions, the high-speed flight itself became one of the most consequential parts of the driver’s case.
